The current FAA Chart Supplement entry for Shreveport Regional places SHV four miles southwest of the city. Its two paved runways measure 8,348 by 200 feet and 7,003 by 150 feet. The field has Class C service, but current NOTAMs and route-specific coordination remain essential.

The Port of Caddo-Bossier sits at the head of navigation on the Red River and links the river with I-20, I-49, and on-site rail. That is documented multimodal context, not evidence of a specific lift need. The site survey checklist separates access facts from assumptions.

Local Constraints and Planning Responses

NWS describes Shreveport summers as consistently hot and humid. Maximums exceed 100 degrees about six days per year and 95 degrees about 32 days. Thunderstorms occur in every month, with severe local storms most frequent in spring.

The same NWS climate record reports winds above 40 mph on about 12 days per year and severe winds above 58 mph on about four days. Normal annual rain is just over 51 inches, and heavy rainfall can cause local flooding. These are screening facts, not operating limits.

The FAA notes bird activity near SHV. City rules separately require permits for right-of-way encroachment and facility work in public ground, plus review for development in a designated Special Flood Hazard Area. The aviation and municipal approvals do not substitute for each other.

Industries That Use External Lift in Shreveport

The port describes a roughly 5,000-acre complex with on-site rail and daily switching, Red River navigation, and access to I-20 and I-49. Those movement systems can share the same ground envelope around an industrial receiving zone.

Shreveport Regional’s official site-selection inventory identifies more than 220 acres at AeroPark with utility and road infrastructure, plus nearly 250 acres for future development. The Air Cargo West District includes warehouse space on SHV’s northwest corner. Published acreage does not establish availability or aircraft fit.
