The Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates place the Dayton-Kettering-Beavercreek, OH metropolitan statistical area at 826,554 residents. It ranks fourth among whole metropolitan areas containing Ohio territory. The metro count selects this guide. It is not Dayton city population or evidence of lifting demand.
James M Cox Dayton International Airport lies nine miles north of Dayton. The current FAA East Central Chart Supplement lists three paved runways measuring 10,901, 8,502, and 7,285 feet long. It also lists continuous attendance and Class C service. Those facts establish an aviation-planning anchor, not approval of a route or staging position.

Its two runways support an average of 11,000 aircraft operations per year. Those June 2026 facts establish a large, active, security-controlled aviation setting northeast of Dayton. They do not establish access or compatibility for civilian external-load work.
Dayton International Airport identifies more than 500 acres zoned for development along with sites for maintenance and aviation facilities, existing hangar areas, and more than 80 acres of aircraft-capable ramps. These are documented industrial and aviation facilities. Any comparable placement study still needs parcel authority, security requirements, certified load data, and receiving-zone geometry.
