The Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates place the Lawton metropolitan area fourth among the five MSAs containing Oklahoma territory, at 127,590 residents on July 1, 2025. The whole-area count selects this guide. It is not Lawton city population or evidence of project demand.
The current FAA entry for Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport places LAW two nautical miles south of the city reference at 1,110 feet elevation. Its single runway is 8,599 by 150 feet. Class D service is published from 1400Z to 0100Z, with Class E at other times. Current NOTAMs, weather, coordinates, and Fort Sill Approach coordination remain necessary.
Lawton’s general construction notes require utility-location verification, coordination with affected utilities, construction signing and barricades, and 24-hour notice before street traffic is restricted. Those notes are a planning screen, not a complete permit determination. The site survey checklist records the actual ground-control boundary.
The National Weather Service June 2025 Storm Data report records a measured 55-knot thunderstorm gust at Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport on June 13. The June 30 Lawton entries record a 57-knot gust southeast of Lawton and flash flooding along Lee Boulevard. These dated observations are not a work-date forecast.
The FAA entry notes birds on and near LAW and publishes limited tower hours. Class D airspace reverts to Class E when tower service closes. The proposed time, route, staging location, and actual coordinates require a fresh aviation screen.
Fort Sill identifies itself as the home of the Fires Center of Excellence and the professional home of Army Field Artillery and Air Defense Artillery. Installation boundaries, training activity, and access requirements should be confirmed through current coordination rather than inferred from a regional guide.

Defense and advanced-manufacturing buildings can require careful equipment-placement planning. Unit weight, roof capacity, shutdown limits, and ground separation remain site-specific.
Fort Sill’s Field Artillery and Air Defense Artillery training mission establishes a substantial defense and technical-facility context beside Lawton. It does not establish access to the installation or a need for any particular lifting method. Security authority and aviation coordination remain separate.
An August 2026 City of Lawton announcement describes two Leidos facilities totaling about 300,000 square feet. One is at FISTA Innovation Park and the other is near Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport, with work involving advanced manufacturing, testing, and defense-program sustainment. These are announced construction facts, not proof of a lift requirement.
