Smith Reynolds Airport is the nearest published airport reference. The current FAA Chart Supplement entry lists KINT northeast of Winston-Salem at 969 feet elevation, with a 6,655-by-150-foot grooved asphalt runway and a 3,938-by-150-foot crosswind runway. Those dimensions describe the airport. They do not establish staging permission or aircraft suitability for a site elsewhere in the city.

Ground access belongs in the first feasibility review. North Carolina’s oversize and overweight permit page identifies permit thresholds including loads wider than 8 feet 6 inches or higher than 14 feet. Within the city, contractors also need a permit before closing a road, lane, or sidewalk. Local Constraints and Planning Responses

A city street cannot become an informal support zone. Winston-Salem’s right-of-way permit page requires temporary closure permits for roads, lanes, and sidewalks and directs contractors to apply well before work begins. Industries That Use External Lift in Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem’s fiscal 2026-27 adopted budget reports 86 active economic-development projects, with most focused on advanced manufacturing. It also relays that ten projects secured during 2025 were expected to produce more than 580 jobs and add nearly $100 million to the tax base. Those are city-published expectations, not completed outcomes or evidence of helicopter work. At a comparable plant, establish shutdown boundaries before studying rooftop equipment placement.

That puts large campuses beside factories in the local construction picture. Each has different occupancy, emergency-access, and receiving-crew constraints.
