The Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates place Bend fourth among metropolitan areas containing Oregon territory, at 266,376 residents. The whole-metro figure selects this guide. It is not Bend city population or evidence of project demand.
The current FAA Northwest Chart Supplement entry for Bend Municipal lists a 3,459-foot field elevation and a 5,201-by-75-foot paved runway. Rotorcraft traffic is directed east of the runway. The entry notes continual helicopter training and glider operations, so exact coordinates and current airport activity belong in the first aviation screen.
Bend requires a right-of-way permit for work in a public right-of-way or easement. A traffic-control plan is required when vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian movement is affected. Permit tiers vary with project complexity. The intake checklist helps define the footprint.
An NWS public-zone notice places the Bend metro in the Central Oregon forecast zone because it has lower average annual snowfall than the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades. That broad distinction is not a site forecast. Current wind, density altitude, visibility, smoke, and surface conditions require day-specific review.
The FAA airport entry reports nonstandard taxilanes, possible apron congestion, wildlife, continual helicopter training, and glider activity. None of those facts determines an off-airport site’s suitability or available aircraft margin.
The City’s Airport Master Plan page says the FAA requested an update because operations continued to increase. The planning process and FAA acceptance do not approve a project route, airport staging, or external-load work.

Bend’s 2025 Industry Cluster Analysis identifies forestry and wood products, furniture, biotech, information technology, outdoor products, and tourism as growing-base clusters. The categories document context but do not prove that a facility needs an aerial lift.
